BlazeSports America’s mission is to change the lives of individuals with disabilities through adaptive sport and recreation. BlazeSports America was formed as the legacy organization of the 1996 Paralympic Games held in Atlanta, Georgia. These games, the first of their kind held in the United States, showed the world the power and spirit of adaptive sport. BlazeSports was founded to provide ongoing programming in adaptive sport, recreation, and physical activity to Georgia’s youth, adults, veterans and military personnel with physical disabilities and PTSD. Our Veteran programs are always free and offer weekly programs in everything from recreational bowling, archery, cycling, tennis, rowing, yoga, CrossFit and more.

Founded by country music artist Zac Brown, Camp Southern Ground offers programs for both veterans and children. Warrior Week, their signature program, enables veterans to discover strengths, define their purpose after military life and develop a custom-designed work and life plan. Warrior PATHH (Progressive Alternative Training for Healing Heroes) is a nonclinical program aimed to cultivate and facilitate post traumatic growth among combat veterans struggling with PTSD, depression, anxiety, and/or combat stress. During summer months, Camp Southern Ground offers an inclusive camp experience for kids, specifically including children who are coping with the deployment of a parent, or those who have lost a loved one in service to our country.

Over the last 25 years, Camp Twin Lakes (CTL) has hosted thousands of adults and children through different overnight retreats and camp experiences. To better serve the Warrior community, CTL created the Family Warrior Weekend – a weekend retreat where you and your families can come together to learn new skills, connect with one another and relax.

Catholic Charities Atlanta provides transformative services that empower families to achieve self-sufficiency. We improve lives through eight service areas of focus with 20+ programs. One of those services is our Veteran Services, Catholic Charities’ Veteran Case Managers are dedicated to helping Veterans and their families navigate social service systems while securing all the benefits that they are entitled to. Our Veterans are also encouraged to participate in other supportive services that we offer and are taught the skills to maintain their autonomy going forward.

ClearPoint Reconnect is a program that serves military service members and their families. The program is based on the realization that it is difficult for those in the military to “reconnect” and establish themselves financially when they return home from service. At ClearPoint, we know about this from firsthand experience. In fact, we have an entire counseling staff made up of veterans and close family members of those who served. The Reconnect Program also offers free educational resources both in-person and through our interactive site at ClearpointU. The online platform features personalized courses and activities, interviews with military families, and the opportunity to earn credits and rewards. Throughout the program, you’ll develop a personalized action plan to help you achieve your goals and overcome financial challenges. We also serve our military affiliated members with 1 on 1 counseling to identify problem areas and define solutions. Often times debt management plans are put in place to improve monthly budget outcomes and decrease overall debt liability. Emory Healthcare Veterans Program (EHVP) treats conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain injury (TBI), military sexual trauma (MST), anxiety, and depression related to military service. Treatment is free and confidential for eligible post-9/11 veterans and service members living anywhere in the United States regardless of discharge status, deployment history, or length of service. Both our traditional outpatient treatment as well as our two-week Intensive Outpatient Program are offered in person at our clinic or via telehealth in eligible states.

First Step Staffing is a nonprofit staffing organization that provides immediate employment opportunities for those individuals who are chronically homeless, veterans, returning citizens, and anyone who is experiencing barriers to employment. Most of our employment opportunities are within the Light Industrial Warehouse sector, with careers in transportation, and hospitality services (janitorial, laundry). Our service provides transportation services to and from your place of employment every day. We also provide a number of disability services to accommodate your needs.

FourBlock inspires transitioning veterans to reach their potential and equips them to achieve the best careers possible. Our Career Readiness Program equips veterans with the professional development, career exploration, and network needed to make strong career choices.

Since 2005, Gateway Center has served as one of Atlanta's leading partners in the provision of housing and support services for individuals and families experiencing homelessness in metro Atlanta. Wrap around services are provided by full-time staff which include a veterans resource advocate and VA financial aid specialist. Their free services include professional resume writing/revision, one-on-one coaching, mentoring, workshops, career fairs and access to training partners. Additionally, the Hire Heroes USA Job Board has thousands of job postings from companies that are looking to hire veterans.

Our nation's warriors - from every field of battle - possess a sense of strength, of excellence, and of commitment that we seldom see here at home. However, far too many of them are struggling to transition their abilities towards a new mission - leading themselves, their families, and their communities off the field. MVP was designed to address this challenge, and ensure that all of our nation's warriors can be as productive off the field as they were on it. By merging vets and players, we create an environment where these warriors can share each other's strength and experience, and can support each other in building fulfilling lives of service and strength.

Focused on serving men and women involved in post 9/11 conflicts, The SHARE Military Initiative at the Shepherd Center is a rehabilitation program that focuses on assessing and treating brain injuries, PTSD and other mental health issues that affect service members. Their team includes trained psychologists, physical therapists and other medical professionals.

If you’re a Warrior who’s looking to volunteer, then Team Rubicon is what you’ve been looking for. Working alongside other veterans, Team Rubicon volunteers – also known as “greyshirts” – can serve vulnerable and at-risk populations who have been affected by a disaster. Opportunities range from cleaning up storm damage to restocking shelves at food pantry.

Team RWB is a national organization committed to enriching the lives of America’s veterans through physical and social activity. Through the Atlanta chapter of Team RWB, you can exercise, workout and participate in team sports alongside other former service members in your area. There are also opportunities to volunteer at homeless shelters, Special Olympics and other nonprofits.

Our philosophy is to create this holistic, multi-disciplinary support network in each community to facilitate reintegration for warriors and their families. While there are many programs designed to provide career guidance and job placement to veterans, there are no programs currently addressing the fundamental issues of reintegration or career retention. Our focus is on these two areas.

The Mission Continues is a national, nonpartisan nonprofit that empowers veterans to continue their service, and empowers communities with veteran talent, skills and preparedness to generate visible impact.

TMF strives to unite and strengthen communities by training, developing, and highlighting the role models that lead them. We develop programs, training opportunities, and events designed to empower veterans and families of the fallen, and then inspire them to pass on their values to the next generation and the community at large.

The Superior Plumbing VECTR Center provides academic transition support for veteran students and their dependents and provides referral services for veteran community members. Representatives from various veteran support agencies will be on-site to offer assistance as well. Inside the building, veteran students can relax and enjoy the Jay Cunningham Veterans Lounge or meet with our VA certifying official. Also housed in the Center is the Office of Career Development and the Counseling and Wellness department.

The Veterans Empower Organization (VEO) wants to help Warriors get off the street by connecting them with housing and employment opportunities. Whether you’re homeless or under-housed, a VEO case manager can work with you and your family to identify a better, long-term solution. And through the Workforce Bootcamp Initiative, they’ll equip you with the tools you need to find gainful employment.
