Date:
October 17, 2019
Time:
7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Location:
Tommy Nobis Center

The National Alliance on Mental Illness Education Speaker presents Sally Atwell, MS, CRC, LPC, Shepherd Center’s Benefits Navigator Project 2008, Director, in a new workshop titled Social Security and Going to Work: What You Need to Know.

This workshop will provide an overview of the two programs that Social Security administers for people with disabilities: SSI and SSDI. The focus will be on work incentives associated with each program such as the Trial Work period, the PASS plan and the Ticket to Work.

Issues such as how to maintain healthcare (Medicaid and/or Medicare) will be addressed. Information will be provided on the Benefits Navigator WIPA (Work Incentive Planning and Assistance) Project that serves Georgians with disabilities. Sally will discuss what services the program provides and how to access the program.
This workshop will provide attendees with the tools they need to be able to make informed choices about starting or returning to work or to assist family members in making these choices and how this will affect the benefits they receive
